According to a report released by global market consultancy Euromonitor International, Hong Kong has become the most-visited city in the world, attracting 26.6 million visitors in 2017.
Every year, Euromonitor releases its Top City Destinations Ranking, a report that ranks 100 of the world's leading cities in terms of tourist arrivals. This year, Asian cities dominated the list, taking four out of the top five spots.
The ranking is based on international tourist arrivals that stay in the country for at least 24 hours and a period less than 12 months. Visit purposes include leisure and business. Domestic tourists, same-day visitors, and people in transit such as cruise passengers are excluded from the ranking.
The following are the top 10 most visited cities in the world:
No 1 Hong Kong, China (26.6 million visitors)
No 2 Bangkok, Thailand (21.2 million visitors)
No 3 London, United Kingdom (19.2 million visitors)
No 4 Singapore (16.6 million visitors)
No 5 Macao, China (15.4 million visitors)
No 6 Dubai, United Arab Emirates (14.9 million visitors)
No 7 Paris, France (14.4 million visitors)
No 8 New York, United States (12.7 million visitors)
No 9 Shenzhen, China (12.6 million visitors)
No 10 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (12.3 million visitors)
Among the cities displayed above, three Chinese cities are on the list, namely, Hong Kong, Macao and Shenzhen. The reason why those cities attract visitors from home and abroad are not only because of the favorable environment, but also various preferential policies for foreign guests. It is really a good choice to live and work in China!
