Trademark registration helps establish ownership and protect brand of an entity. Early trademark filing will help avoid unnecessary legal tangle.

Any person which can be individual, company, proprietor or legal entity claiming to be owner of the trademark can apply. Foreign applicants shall entrust a local agent. To file an application, basically you need to provide the following information:

1. Trademark drawing or logo;
2. Applicant details (full name, address and nationality, etc);
3. List of goods or services;
4. Power of attorney (POA).

If everything goes smoothly, the whole registration process may take less than 1 year. Once a trademark is registered, the registration will be valid for 10 years. Registered trademarks nearing expiry can be easily renewed by filing a trademark renewal application for a period of another 10 years.
